Ornamental Corn combines with mums for a classic fall planter.
Do you still have petunias going in your planters? Add some black perennials or coleus to get those harvest colors of fall.
Autumn isn’t just about warm tones, try putting pinks and purples together for a fresh look.
The key to these gorgeous planters is repetition. Use the greens to fill the pot to the brim, then use the decorative elements to make it pop!
Hands down, nothing says fall like these two classics, the sunny faces of Rudbeckia and the black arching blades of millet. Just a simple grouping of the two is dramatic enough.
A splash of chartreuse Hakone grass can add brilliance to fall planters.
Let’s not forget about ornamental cabbages and kale, a standard fall planter staple.
This combination celebrates all the colors of the season with burnt oranges and deep purples.
A simple clean combo with heuchera, mums and ornamental peppers.
This twig planter is great! With just some heuchera, ferns and potato vine, your fall planters can be ready to go.

After the summer annuals are spent, add some fall plants and a few harvest decor elements to finish off your fall planters.
And last but not least, planters don’t need to be big and bold to celebrate the season. Like this super cute terrarium I saw when I was at the Chicago show, see 9 Fall Garden Trends for more cool stuff.
How cute is this terrarium.. perfect for Halloween, yes?
I’d like to give a shout out to Gethsemane Garden Centre in Chicago for some of the above amazing designs. To see some of my custom made fall containers, come down to Milner Village Garden Centre.
