Lilac Cocktail Recipe
Have you ever wished you could just eat Lilac flowers because they smell so good! Okay, maybe it’s just me, but guess what… you can create a refreshing cocktail that will completely have your girlfriends begging for the recipe.
So about a week ago, a group of ladies came through Art’s Nursery on a Retail Therapy Tour through Vanilla Clothing. Yes… Deanna hosts this event and ladies get on a bus and get driven to secret destinations where they get spoiled and get to shop.
I KNOW right??
Anyways, Arts was one of the stops on this diva-licious journey and they served the ladies this Lilac Cocktail beverage which was as lovely to look at as it was to sip.
Of course I HAD to get the recipe from Laurelle Olfdord-Down who put this scrumptious cocktail together and now I’m going to share it with you!
First, you need Lilac Flowers… the darkest purple is best but if you have a lighter variety, then you can some blueberries to the infusion to get more color.
I think it goes without saying, but make sure that your using flowers that have not been sprayed with any pesticides.
I doubled this recipe and canned a quick jar for later… Lilacs are a short season and I want to wow my girlfriends for this when I have them over for a garden party in the summer.
Here’s the recipe:
Lilac Cordial Syrup
- 2 Cups Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 2 Cups Lilac Flowers
Laurelle had 1 cup of water and 1 cup of simple syrup, but I cheated. Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water, so I figured I would skip a step and just bring the water to a boil, dissolve the sugar then add the lilac flowers.
Bring back to a boil for 15 minutes, strain and cool.
Lilac Infused Cocktail
- 1 oz White Rum
- 1 oz Blueberry or Raspberry Vodka
- 1 oz Lilac Cordial
- Club Soda
- Ice and Wedge of Lime
Serve over lot’s of ice and enjoy the delicate taste of this amazing spring cocktail.
Cheers!
